The Black Pearl: Origins

The Pearl started off as a mechanic’s special with 120,000 miles and a list of problems a mile long. It was a lemon, and I knew it. But it was cheap! I needed a new daily driver and funds were tight. When a 2005 Tacoma popped up on Craigslist for under half the blue book value, I couldn’t resist. At the very least I could flip it for a profit, right? It had body damage, a grenaded air conditioner, shot suspension, a leaky head gasket, and the front bumper was held on with zip ties. It was perfect.
